Press Release
June 06, 2003
British
company scores world first in secure end-to-end SMS communication.
"Virtually
impenetrable" software protects SMS text messages. Silicon
Village today launched a world first in service independent end-to-end solution
for sending secure SMS messages. The
new encryption application provides secure end-to-end data transmission for SMS
messages on the Series 60 and Symbian platforms. Developed
by expert, Dr. David Reynolds, Fortress SMS is a phone based application that
sends encrypted SMS messages and decrypts coded SMS messages when received. "Fortress
SMS is designed for a growing number of security conscious SMS users seeking to
protect their sensitive messages from interception and snooping, in an easy to
use, simple and effective fashion" said Tony King, a partner in development
firm, Silicon Village . "With an intuitive, easy to use interface, users of
Fortress SMS will be able to transmit and receive strongly encrypted messages,
directly from their phones using the U.S Government Advanced Encryption Standard
(AES) “Rijndael” algorithm. Fortress
SMS users can create and read encrypted messages directly on their Series 60
smart phones without the need for an operator provided solution. The messages
are stored in an encrypted form and password protected, so protecting them from
casual or determined prying. Fortress
SMS features AES compliant encryption, encrypted message storage, long
(concatenated) message support, multiple recipient support, integrity checking
of encrypted messages and Unicode character set support.
