Operating Systems Microsoft Windows 95/98/me/NT4/2000/XP Supported by all 32 bit Windows operating systems.
Email Interface Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) which is part of Windows. Uses your default email program to send and receive encrypted email.
bulletSupports all email protocols that your MAPI enabled email program does. For example, if you already have Outlook working with SMTP, ESMTP or X400 so will Fortress Mail.
bulletMost common email programs are MAPI enabled including Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora.
Encryption
bullet128 bit RC4
bullet128, 192, 256 bit Serpent and Rijndael with Cipher Block Chaining (CBC)
bulletHS1 (128 bit RC4 + 256 bit Rijndael)
The Rijndael modes are fully compliant with the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Block ciphers use a 128 bit block size.
Encrypted Parts Message body and attached files are encrypted. Subject line is not encrypted.
Sender Authentication 128 bit unique identifier locked to the senders computer sent with each email. This identifier cannot be changed by the user. Virtually impossible to spoof.
Message Authentication
bulletMD5 digests of the message body and any attached files.
bulletAttachment list comparison.

 

Warnings given if any of the digests are inconsistent or if the attachment list shows missing or additional files or if any file name has been changed.
Authentication Database Integrated database for associating  Sender Authentication IDs with details.
bulletDatabase is encrypted for security. 
bulletStandard version can support 1024 entries of 256 characters each.
bulletCan be used to store recipients passwords but appropriate precautions should be taken (see User Guide).
